(between 8th St & Converse St)
San Francisco, CA 94103
Occasion: After happy hour at hog's island we met up a few more and decided to come here for dinner.
It had the same sauce as the dry fried chicken wings. Definitely something I've never seen on the menu before. It wasn't too bad.
The healthiest dish we ordered. It was nothing special, but it was good.
There was a lot of controversy at the table while we were eating this. San Tung vs. SO. The guys plus amy liked it better here. The rest of us girls liked San Tung's Dry Fried Chicken wings better. I think the reason the guys like it here more is because of the flavor. It's actually more spicy at SO than it is at San Tung. But I feel that the overall product is better at San Tung's. I didn't like the skin here. At San Tung the skin is connected to the meat...here I felt that it just fell off. I like it kinda gooey and chewy and caramelized and while you bite into the wing you get the skin and the meat. I just think San Tung's execution of it is better.
My favorite dish of the night. I loved how this simple dish just hit the spot for me. Tofu was soft. Flavor was there. Had a little kick of spiciness to it. The sauce was nice and thick, not too watery. I just really enjoyed it.
My second favorite dish. I liked the noodles, the sauce and the ingredients in it. I've had it at places where the sauce is just too rich, or the noodle isn't the right texture, or their ingredients are just lacking, but not at SO and for the price...it was really good.
Worst thing we ordered. This was not good at all. The skin got soggy really fast. The taste wasn't there. It was horrible. Trust me none of us were fighting for it. It doesn't even look appetizing.
