Occasion: Another belated bday dinner with Mike Vo. First time having cambodian food. It reminds me a lot like thai cuisine. 3.18.10
The crepe skin is really thin, not like american crepes. It was filled with ground pork, beansprouts and other vegetables. It was good but not great. I feel like it lacked in something, perhaps the ingredients itself. I didn't think it was too flavorful either. Another bad thing about it was that it was kind of messy, the bean sprouts were falling out.
mild curry fish mousse served in banana leaf basket with fish and shrimp.
This was SOOO GOOD! Not only was the presentation all their, the taste was too. For those who do not like seafood, let me warn you...it has a very fishy taste because of the fish and the shrimp. I enjoyed this dish a lot. The texture of the fish mousse reminds of of steamed eggs, very soft and slippery in texture.
Didn't seem too much like an authentic cambodian dish, but it was still good. I feel like every culture has a stirfry like this. There was nothing special about it nor did it stand out to me. Though I liked to drizzle the sauce in my rice. Maybe that's why Mike ordered it because he's a simple guy with a simple set of taste buds.
