Sneaky's BBQ

1760 Market St
San Francisco, CA 94110

Occasion: Trying out a new BBQ with 4 guys. Eating BBQ at a gay bar. Pretty interesting. 07.23.11

IMG_6475 Baby-Back Ribs
with their signature dry-rubbed pork ribs
It was nice and flavorful with a smokey flavor, but the meat wasn't as tender as I was hoping it to be.  I like ribs with meat so tender that it falls off the bone.

4 Meat Combination Plate
Pulled Pork: a Carolina classic, dressed with vinegar-pepper sauce
Brisket: from Creekstone Farms, dry-rubbed and sliced thickly from the whole
Kurobuta Pork Belly: our richest cut, from the finest heritage line
Wings: nine jumbo wings, rubbed, smok
ed, and fried, tossed in your choice of sauce
Chicken wings were a favorite amongst our group.  Everyone enjoyed it.  Portion of the pulled pork was generous and the tangy vinaigrette flavor was addicting.  Pork Belly was good, but very rich and the brisket was juicy, but chewy.

Side dishes: Macaroni and Cheese, Cole Slaw, Hand-Cut Fries, Cornbread
Fries were bomb! Loved the fact that they used shell pasta for their macaroni and cheese. Cole slaw was not too mayonnaise-y.  I don't usually enjoy cole slaw, but this one wasn't too shabby.  I was actually too full from the meat to enjoy the cornbread.

Mo's Smokehouse BBQ

221 Pomeroy Ave
Pismo Beach, CA 93449

Occasion: Saturday night soul food dinner in Pismo Beach. 05.01.11

Their different varieties of BBQ Sauce.
There were sweet, spicy, bbq and a tangy spicy!
Garlic Fries
We just had to get a basket to try because we love garlic fries. They were definitely tasty!
Shredded Pork
Slowly smoked and tender pork topped with delicious coleslaw
Yummy pulled pork drenched in sweet barbeque sauce.  Ever since the delicious pulled pork that AJ had made ages ago...I've fallen in love with pulled pork.  I loved this. The meat was juicy and tender.
Sweet Carolina's Pork Ribs
Slowly smoked with real hickory very tender with a sweet BBQ sauce!
This was their most popular item on their menu as far as ribs.  A friend gave us a tip to get this one instead of the memphis bbq pork ribs, so between two people we got half a rack of these. I had one and thought it was pretty good.  Tender meat that was not dry or over cooked slathered in a delicious smokey sweet bbq sauce.  Brings me back to the sweet memories of the Rib Fest in Reno I had attended a couple of years ago.

Baby Blues BBQ

3149 Mission Street
San Francisco, CA 94110

Occasion: Belated Bday Dinner with bAbiE Tiff/ catch up session=] I wanted to try everything, so we got the BLUE DEVIL PLATTER!! YUMMO!

In our platter the meats we ordered were: Texas style beef ribs, pulled pork, 1/4 chicken and baby back ribs.
Since Tiff doesn't eat beef we only ordered one beef item.  Everything from texas is really bigger, hence the name "TEXAS STYLE" beef ribs.  The meat was full of flavor and very tender. It was delicious and addicting.  Too bad meat itself is really filling other wise I could have eaten more.  The pulled pork was a bit dissappointing, as it was on the blander side in taste and it wasn't as tender as I'd thought it to be.  I got to try the chicken and thought it was decent, but nothing special.  Baby back ribs were decent, but the corn bread was memorable. I love cornbread!
Corn
This ws one of the three of our sides.  I love corn so I had to order it.  Originally I thought they only give half a cob, but they give a whole cob. That's a generous portion!
Mashed Potatoes
Love my spuds, so I had to order that as well!  I thought it was good, but not the best I've ever had.  There were just so much food on the table...it's hard to really appreciate everything.
Mac and Cheese
Tiff wanted it and it was one of the highlights on yelp, so we just had to get it.  I tried it, but was quite dissappointed.  It wasn't cheesy enough, nor was it too tasty.  It was just mediocre.
All the different sauces in order from least spicy to the spiciest
I'm SASSY!!! LOL! That's the sauce that I used most of the night. I tried the BBQ too...a bit more spicy and less sweet with a smokier flavor.

Asquew Grill

3348 Steiner Street
San Francisco, CA 94123

Occasion: Dinner with Ella!

Skewers
She chose a salmon skewer with veggies and I chose some kind of ahi tuna. It was just what I wanted for dinner that night; something more on the healthy side! Not too greasy or too filling! It might not look like a lot of food. But it filled our stomachs!
Corn on the cob
Love corn on the cob! How can you possibly go wrong?

Gorilla Barbeque

2145 Coast Hwy
Pacifica, CA 94044

Occasion: Leaving Pacifica, we noticed this little shack and decided to check it out, then ended up ordering some Pork Ribs.

BBQ Pork Ribs
Some one from food network came to visit this place and broadcasted. The owner said that since that episode went on air in February of 2009 they've been busy every single day they've been open. They're only open from 12pm until everything is sold out. The day I went in, everything was sold out before 5pm. That is just crazy! He said that he counted a total of 93 people waiting in line before 12pm. Oh what people would do for good food. I mean I would too if! Since it was so hyped before eating it, I really expected a lot. When I actually ate it, I didn't think it was THAT good. I've had better in RENO, CA at their annual ribfest. Half of the meat was so tender that it fell off the bone, the other half was kind of dry. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't as good as it was hyped up to be. The sauce was perfect and very smoky! My fingers smelled smoky for the rest of the evening. Definitely worth a try though!

Roadside BBQ

3751 Geary Blvd
San Francisco, CA 94118

Occasion: Special Delivery Thursday Lunch from Rich=]! Even though it was late, it was the thought that counts.

Pulled pork sandwich with a mix of garlic fries and sweet potato fries
By the time I got the food, it wasn't that warm and I had already eaten, but I wanted to try it since it's on BIG EAT SF 2009 and 2010: #85. Pulled-pork sandwich at Roadside BBQ. The pork is really smoky and dry, but if you dip it in ketchup or bbq sauce it helps with the dryness. The fries were kind of soggy. Next time I need the full experience by eating there. I didn't think it was that great. I've had much better!
