Shabu House

2608 Ocean Ave
San Francisco, CA 94132

Occasion: Sunday night dinner to satisfy the cravings. 02.19.12

It's so simple, but so good.  Perhaps it's their ponzu sauce.  Whatever it is, keep it up...everyone I know is addicted.  If you haven't tried Shabu House, you need to give it a try.  I always get the ginger chicken broth because I think it's a lot more clear (qing in chinese) than the spicy miso.  I don't enjoy spicy as much either.  Love that it comes with veggies too.  I always devour the veggies before I finish the meat.  Unlike the bf, I love eating it with rice.  There's just something about the half cooked meat dipped in ponzu sauce and eaten with some rice.  Oh and this location is so much more convenient than having to drive to Burlingame.

Shabu House

2608 Ocean Ave
San Francisco, CA 94132

Occasion: Dinner with Diana before we go shopping at Stonestown. 11.30.11

Regular Kobe Beef with Ginger Chicken Broth
Yummy yummy in my tummy especially on a cold winter day. I finished all my veggies and the beef. Seriously, the ponzu sauce is what makes it so good.

Shabu House

5158 Geary Blvd
San Francisco, CA 94118

Occasion: Sunday night dinner after sailing 5.2.10.

Beef Carpaccio
Beef was nice and thin, but the sauce was to salty. Presentation was nice and adding mushrooms definitely puts a spin on this dish. It was nice to try something different, but I would have much rather had the vietnamese beef carpaccio with onions, cilantro and crushed peanuts with their fish sauce dressing.

Ordered a Large Kobe Beef Shabu
Loved how it came wiht plenty of vegetables to balance out all that meat.

Green Tea and red bean ice cream
It was just ok. I've had better green tea ice cream. First time having red bean. It's not bad but I don't think I'll be ordering this flavor from any restaurant anytime soon.

Mongolian Hot Pot

215 S Ellsworth Ave
San Mateo, CA 94401
Occasion: Sunday night dinner, after sunday night football. Me waiting= SUPER HUNGRY!
Half spicy and half regular herbal soup base
I can't eat spicy and the four other people I ate with do, therefore we had to get half and half. I swear they put some kind of drug in their soup base, it's the best hot pot I've ever had.

Beef, lamb, meatballs, fishballs, spinach, mushrooms
We got a variety of everything =]

Premium Lamb Shoulder Slices
Very tender and delicious. Did not taste gamy to me at all.

Seafood Platter
I liked everything but the mussel. I'm not a big fan of cooked mussels.

Pork Blood
I know it totally sounds gross, but I like it. It doesn't gross me out at all. It's supposed to be good for you.

Mongolian Beef Meat Pie
Loved it. the flaky outer pie crust is amazing. baked to a perfect cripy brown. Meat pie was salty with a hint of sweetness. These pieces were so addicting. Definitely give it a try especially if you have a few extra friends with you. I gaurantee it will have you wanting more.

Mushroom Platter
I love mushrooms. I think I ate most of this platter. YUMMY. I don't know what it is, but I love fungi, ( I love fun- guys). haha.

Shabu House

5158 Geary Blvd
(between 15th Ave & 16th Ave)
San Francisco, CA 94118

Occasion: Random dinner night. Walter and Sherwood wanted ShabuShabu and I've been wanting to try this place out. So we came here!

Large Kobe Beef Platter
I asked the waitress what size I should get and she suggested the large. Didn't quite finish, but I was close. The meat was really good and it went well with the sauce. I loved how it was thinly sliced and that the meat wasn't too chewy or fatty. I don't usually eat beef, but it was sure good to me. Perfect night for shabu since it was a cold night.

came with a plate of veggies
filled with lettuce, spinach, mushrooms, enoki mushrooms...etc
I ate all my veggies and then some. I loved the enoki mushrooms. I ate all mine, Walter's and Sherwood's. =]
Dinner for 3
I loved the sauce!
Added a whole lot of garlic and onions. yum

Green Tea Ice cream and Taro Ice Cream
You could choose from the above two flavors. I chose the Green Tea. Not the best, but you can't complain.
