Stack's in Burlingame

361 California Dr
Burlingame, CA 94010

Occasion: Sunday Brunch on a rainy day.

French Toast
It's one of my favorite breakfast foods. I can almost always have it for breakfast. We each got a breakfast entree and decided to share this. Delicious especially after you drench it in syrup. It came with a little holder filled with an apple jam with chunks of apple. Personally, I enjoyed it without the jam. French toast is good just the way it was, a little bit of powdered sugar and syrup. YUMMY!

Italian Fritatta
Spicy Italian sausage, mushrooms, onions, green peppers, black olives, topped with marinara sauce & mozzarella cheese
For breakfast, I really felt like an omelette, but I saw fritatta on the menu and decided to get this instead. This one appealed to me most because i love mushrooms and green peppers. The marinara sauce and the mozzarella cheese was delicious as well, but it reminded me of a pizza especially with the chopped up pieces of italian sausage. It was good and I was hungry. I cleaned the plate!! woohoo!

Sausage and mushroom skillet topped with sunny side up eggs.
Too rich for me. It was filled with diced up potatoes, sausages, mushrooms and topped with cheese. It was flavorful, but not my ideal breakfast food. There's nothing healthy about this. haha.

Crab Landing

260 Capistrano Rd
Half Moon Bay, CA 94019

Occasion: Saturday Brunch!

The pesto dipping in the middle was off the hook. Their breads were warm and super soft. We filled ourselves up with the breads!

New England Clam Chowder
Loved the big chunks of clam and creamy soup. Perfect for the cold, gloomy and drizzling day!
Crab Landing Louie
with dungeness crab, avocado, hard boiled egg, cucumber, cherry tomatoes and louie dressing
Delicious. I'm glad we ordered one thing pretty light. It was very refreshing and they did not skimp on the portion of the dungeness crab. I had that in every bite of my salad. I loved everything in the salad. Diana and I shared this and the salmon.
Salmon stuffed with crab
with mashed potatoes and string beans
It was a special for the day. When our waitress described it to us that day, I totally did not think it would end up looking like sushi pieces. Each piece was wrapped in seaweed that was glazed with bread crumbs to deep fry. It was DELICIOUS and very FILLING. Loved how it was presented. The crispy outsides were great and the salmon was a bit on the dry side but I loved how it was stuffed with crab meat. So good. I love the combination of ingredients. It was a very big lunch which ruined my appetite for dinner.
Crab Sandwich
came with fries
Helder's lunch. I didn't get to try it, but he said it was pretty good, so I take his word for it!

5A5 Steakhouse

244 Jackson St
San Francisco, CA 94111

Occasion: Annie Doan's Quarter Century!

Fries
Best Fries ever!!! Love Love Loved it...especially when you dip it into their delicious aioli sauce. It is so addiciting. I love how the fries are fat!

6oz Filet Mignon
Cooked medium rare. It was nice and tender and still a bit warm when I got it. The sauce used to garnish over it was a bit sweet. Enjoyed it, but did not LOVE it.

Boiling Crab

1631 E Capitol Expressway #101
San Jose, CA 95121
Occasion: Thursday night outing to boiling crab. We were craving it!
Medium Shabang Crab
Shared this between 3 people. Medium is definitely too spicy for me.

My Very Own Mild Shrimp
We ordered three pounds of bag. I had to get my very own mild shrimp. It was delicious, but spicy at the same time...you know to the point where your nose starts running. Next time I gotta get it with no spice.
The Food on the table
There was no room to eat at boiling crab so we ordered it to go and ate it at Diana's sister's house. hahaha.

Hamburger Haven

800 Clement St
San Francisco, CA 94118

Occasion: Wednesday Night Dinner!

Mushroom Burger
One of the oldest burger joints I have been to, where they don't take ATM/Credit cards, their cashiers looked like they belong in the early 1900's. It was great. I liked the burger I had. Greasy, but tasty. It gave me a different kind of satisfaction than In and Out or McDonald's would.

Spaghetti
I tried a bite of Diana's spaghetti and to my surprise, it was pretty good. The sauce was tasty with bits of meat in it.

Cultive

1998 Union St
San Francisco, CA 94123

Occasion: Couldn't get into Blue light for taco tuesdays because I forgot to bring my ID. So we headed to Cultive.

A mix of plain frozen yogurt and mango frozen yogurt topped with kiwis, mangos, pineapples, gummy bears, mochi, captain crunch.
I had first had Cultive when I was at Davis when it used to be called Swirl, where it wasn't self served and they didn't charge by the ounce. I used to have to have a fix almost everyday, some days twice. It was good and refreshing, but I don't have the same addiction as I used to. It makes me nostalgic about the past, but I don't like it the way I used to. Maybe I've grown to love something else now.

Nick's Crispy Tacos

1500 Broadway
San Francisco, CA 94109

Occasion: Taco Tuesdays!

Fish Tacos
One made plain and one Nick's way (topped with guacamole and wrapped with fried cheese)
I loved the fish taco jus the way it was. It was soooooo big and soooo goood and soooooo filling. SF Big Eats: 100 things to eat and drink before you die:#10. Nick’s Baja-style fish tacos at The Taco Shop at Underdogs
Carne Asada tacos
Both Nick's Way (topped with guacamole and wrapped with fried cheese)
LOVED IT. Very rich in flavor. The crispy cheese definitely added a kick to the taco. They do not skimp on anything. It was huge for 3 dollars. I am a fan!
Pulled Pork Taco
I could barely finish this last one. I was so full after the second taco. This place has no become my favorite taco tuesday place. YUMMY!

My Fish Taco=]

Pulled Pork
Look how big they make it

Kome Sushi Buffet

1901 Junipero Serra Blvd
Daly City, CA 94014

My plate of seafood. The big clam shell filled with noodles seemed to be holding up the lines in the hot food/chinese food section. Once you get passed this part, the line doesn't seem as long.

Hong Kong Flower Lounge

51 Millbrae Ave
Millbrae, CA 94030

Occasion: Sunday Dim Sum!

Pan Fried Turnip Cake
Always a favorite at dimsum. Love the crispy outside and the soft inside with chunks of turnip and chinese sausages.

Steamed spareribs in black bean sauce along with other trays of deliciousness.

Steamed bbq pork rice noodles
I love how its so soft and it melts in your mouth.
Steamed shrimp rice noodles
Always a favorite when I have dimsum

Seafood Scallop dumpling
First time trying it, and i loved it. It had skin like the shrimp dumplings and it was filled with deliciousness that consisted of chunks of scallops, shrimps, cilantro, onions.

Shanghai soup dumplings
I love how it came in little foil plates. Very genius idea so that when we grabbed the dumplings, the delicious soup wouldn't fall out. Loved it. It wasn't too dry, but also not soupy enough.

Deep fried shrimp dumplings

Deep Fried taro with meat dumpling

Mango Pudding
Great ending to a greasy meal. Cold, refreshing and sweet.

Miette

2109 Chestnut St
San Francisco, CA 94123

Occasion: Just in the neighborhood and decided to try their cupcakes. I've actually seen their location at the ferry building and wanted to try it last time, but didn't have the chance to. Their cupcakes are so pretty!

Macaroons
We bought two flavors, but I forgot to eat it, so i ended up throwing it away. We got the almond flavor and the pistachio. Supposedly their two most popular flavors. Oh well, next time.

Cute packaging =]

Gingerbread cupcake with cream cheese frosting
and
Vanilla cupcake with butter cream frosting
The gingerbread cupcake tasted very moist and fresh. It was delicious. The vanilla on the other hand did not taste as fresh. It wasn't moist and was kind of hard.

Cioppino's

400 Jefferson St
(between Leavenworth St & Hyde St)
San Francisco, CA 94109

Occasion: Dinner on NYE!

SPAGHETTI ALLA CARBONARA
The classic roman pasta dish. A creamy egg sauce of parmesan, garlic, and pancetta.
This dish was really good compared to the other one. It was rich and full of flavor. The pancetta definitely helped to spice this dish up. It actually reminded me a lot of bacon bits.
SALMON FETTUCCINE
Fettucine tossed with salmon, sun-dried tomatoes, garlic, and scallions in a creamy parmesan sauce.
I guess this dish helped us balance out the other dish because it was so bland. The salmon did not taste like it was seasoned at all. Overall, it was just ok. I wouldn't recommend getting it unless you're trying to lay off on the sodium.

Osha Thai- Union Street

2033 Union St
(between Buchanan St & Webster St)
San Francisco, CA 94123

Occasion: Dining out on a Tuesday.

Osha Tartare
Ahi tuna with mango, cilantro and garlic chip with sriracha sesame sauce
Like I've mentioned in many of the previous blogs, I love love love tuna tartar. I really like the tuna tartar here. It's different. The sweet and tangy mango cubes along with the cilantro go so well with the tuna. Scoop it onto a piece of shrimp chip and it will leave you wanting more. Absolutely did not disappoint. Even my friend who is not too of fond raw fish enjoyed it.

Volcanic Beef
grilled steak, basil, black pepper, bell peppers,in lava sauce with rings of onion
I don't usually like beef, but lately I've been enjoying it more than usual. These beef cubes are amazing. Love the combination of flavors and the ingredients used. The onion rings were a bit too big and we didn't really touch it much, but nice presentation. Could have totally done without the onion rings.

Pumpkin Curry
kabocha squash, bell peppers, garlic, bamboo shoots and sweet basil in a red curry
I always like to order this. I love the chunks of pumpkin in the curry, they gave us a lot this time. Curry sauce is good and the fried crunchy sweet potatoes were delicious.

Kara's Cupcakes

3249 Scott St
San Francisco, CA 94123
Occasion: Saturday tea time/dessert craving!
Carrot [left] Passionfruit [right]
Over the years I've grown to like carrot cupcakes, carrot muffins and carrot cakes. I used to be grossed out at the thought of carrots being put in sweet desserts, but I have come to the realization that its actually really good. The cupcake was nice and moist, filled with raisins. The cream cheese frosting was just a tad bit too much for me. I ended up scraping most of the frosting off.
The passionfruit cupcake on the other hand was made with a vanilla cake base filled with passionfruit cream and topped with a buttercream. It sounded weird to me at first, because it was hard for me to imagine a tropical fruit flavor in a cupcake. To my surprise it was VERY VERY delicious. It was nice and light and the passionfruit filling was tangy and absolutely refreshing. I am so glad i gave it a try.

Tanpopo

1740 Buchanan Street
San Francisco, CA 94115

Occasion: Late lunch after getting our nails done! NYE

Miso Ramen
I almost devoured it before I took a picture of it. I was so hungry!!! This experience was better than the last, maybe due to the fact that I was starving or I actually ordered the right thing.

Mongolian Hot Pot

215 S Ellsworth Ave
San Mateo, CA 94401
Occasion: Sunday night dinner, after sunday night football. Me waiting= SUPER HUNGRY!
Half spicy and half regular herbal soup base
I can't eat spicy and the four other people I ate with do, therefore we had to get half and half. I swear they put some kind of drug in their soup base, it's the best hot pot I've ever had.

Beef, lamb, meatballs, fishballs, spinach, mushrooms
We got a variety of everything =]

Premium Lamb Shoulder Slices
Very tender and delicious. Did not taste gamy to me at all.

Seafood Platter
I liked everything but the mussel. I'm not a big fan of cooked mussels.

Pork Blood
I know it totally sounds gross, but I like it. It doesn't gross me out at all. It's supposed to be good for you.

Mongolian Beef Meat Pie
Loved it. the flaky outer pie crust is amazing. baked to a perfect cripy brown. Meat pie was salty with a hint of sweetness. These pieces were so addicting. Definitely give it a try especially if you have a few extra friends with you. I gaurantee it will have you wanting more.

Mushroom Platter
I love mushrooms. I think I ate most of this platter. YUMMY. I don't know what it is, but I love fungi, ( I love fun- guys). haha.
