My favorites were the Vanilla and the pumpkin

Katz's Delicatessen

205 E Houston St
New York, NY 10002

Occasion: Our last day in NY and we just had to get this to go to eat on the plane. 10.19.10

Pastrami Sandwich on a French Roll
Ever since our last trip, we drool just talking about Katz pastrami sandwiches. Their meat is super soft and tender, so soft that the meat melts in your mouth.  The sandwiches are freaking huge and can definitely feed me for two meals.  The person making your sandwich always gives you a little sample of the meat and it was just as tasty as I last remembered it.  Too bad by the time we got on the plane the sandwich was cold and it just didn't give the same experience as the last time when we actually sat down to eat it.  It wasn't as soft and juicy. But I thought it was still pretty good.

Joe's Shanghai

Occasion: Our last day in New York and we just had to get our Xiao Long Bao fix! 10.19.10
Crab Xiao Long Baos
Ever since our last visit in New York September 2009, we've been craving these little delicious dumplings.  I've been on a search for some good xiao long baos in the bay and nothing has been comparable to Joe's.  I love love love the crab ones here.  The dumplings are very soupy, skin is not too thick nor too thin and the flavors are all there! Oh how I've missed you so!

Koryodang

31 W 32nd St
New York, NY 10001

Occasion: After dinner snack and drinks time with James. It was right across the street from Airirang. Very nice trendy hip dessert lounge. 10.17.10

Macroons
We tried the strawberry, green tea, sesame, mint and blueberry.
My favorite was the blueberry and the least favorite was the strawberry. The macroons are not that great here. It's kind of dry and hard. Wish we tried some other pastry goods.

Airirang

32 W 32nd St
New York, NY 10001

Occasion: Sunday night dinner in NY. James brought us to one of his favorite spots to eat. 10.17.10

Home made chicken noodle soup with dough flakes
Anything that's home made definitely appeals to me. I enjoyed it though Ella thought it was a bit too bland. Yes it might have been on the bland side, but that's why I liked it.  I didn't want anything too rich in flavor or heavy and this hit the spot for me.  Noodles definitely tasted very homey. It was nice and "qing" just what I needed that night. Sprinkle some white pepper powder in it and it definitely adds some flavor! yum.

Shake Shack

1295 Madison Ave
(between 92nd St & 93rd St)
New York, NY 10128

Occasion: After a walk through the park we came here for an afternoon snack. Met up with Pia and her bf 10.17.10.

Shroom Burger
Yummilicious!! Loved it! It's a mushroom burger stuffed with cheese. The cheese was warm and gooey and soo good. I loved it!

Sarabeth's East

1295 Madison Ave
(between 92nd St & 93rd St)
New York, NY 10128

Occasion: Sunday morning brunch after only 3 hours of sleep. 10.17.10

Sara's famous velvety cream of tomato soup
So freaking bomb! Best tomato soup, hands down!!! It was creamy, flavorful filled with chunks of tomatoes! It is definitely something to rave about!
Classic Eggs Benedict
Smoked ham, hollandaise sauce, peppers and chives
I've never been big on ham nor have I been a big eggs benedict lover! I just thought this was mediocre. I wish we got to try the lox or the salmon eggs benedict instead! Oh well.
Apple-Cinnamon French Toast
Toast was very fluffly, but I just thought the apple cinnamon jam was just whatever.  It was decent, but nothing to rave about!  Maybe because we were tired or maybe because we were full.  I wish I got to try the lemon ricotta pancakes that Jenny had recommended! Oh well next time.

Kun Jip

9 W 32nd St
(between 5th Ave & Broadway)
New York, NY 10001

Occasion: After Saturday night club hopping to karaoking then here for some after hours grubbing. 5am 10.17.10

Steamed Eggs
Complimentary steamed eggs. Soo Goood. I love eating this at korean restaurants

Seafood Pancake
I don't know whether it was good or bad, I just know it did it's job when it had to. It was good to me, but then again my judgement could have been off since it was sooo late at night/ early in the morning.
Soon do boo
I only had a little bit of this because it was spicy.
BiBimBop
I don't even remember eating it, but knowing me I was probably the one who ordered it.

Savore

200 Spring St
New York, NY 10012

Occasion: Sunday night dinner 10.17.10

Mussels
You can't go wrong with mussels as an appetizer. We attack and devoured it. Yummoz.
Tuna Trio
Seared, sashimi, tartar
I loved it in all three preparations. My only complaint is that I wish there was more of it.  Tartar with avocado was yummilicious. Shared it between four people and there was enough to go around.
Calamari
You can't really go wrong with calamari. It was quite satisfying. My favorite part were the pieces with the tentacles. YUM!
Caprese with Buruta Cheese
So freaking delicious! The cheese is so much softer than mozzarella! It was creamier and tastier. I love caprese salads so I definitely enjoyed this with some balsamic vinaigrette and olive oil. =]
Squid Risotto
I know it doesn't look too appetizing, but it wasn't too bad. I think I expected it to be better, but it was still pretty good.
Crabmeat Pasta
I thought it was pretty bland. Nothing impressive. But there were generous chunks of crab meat.
Veal Stuffed Ravioli
I got to try some of it and it was really good. I thought the taste of the veal would be a little bit too much, but surprisingly it wasn't that bad and it was actually really tasty.

Cafe Habana On The Go

229 Elizabeth Street

New York, NY 10012

Occasion: After shopping snack! 10.16.10. This place is just around the corner from the actual Cafe Habana Restaurant. Came here to try their

Cuban grilled corn
soaked in butter, topped with lime juice, cotija cheese and chili powder
This was the perfect snack after shopping.  I've heard so much about it and since I love corn I really wanted to give it a try. It was so worth coming to try. Flavorful and delicious, but a bit spicy. I loved it!!

Something Sweet Inc

177 1st Ave
New York, NY 10003

Occasion: Sweets for after lunch. 10.16.10

Pumpkin whoopie sandwich
It was way too sweet. The cookie was pretty soft and moist though, but the filling was just too much for my liking.
Pumpkin Cookie
This was sooo good. It was soft and super moist!

Momofuku's Noodle Bar

171 1st Ave
New York, NY 10003

Occasion: Saturday lunch before we head to SOHO for some shopping 10.16.10

Pork Steamed Buns
Freaking delicious. Maybe we were hungry but the pork belly was juicy and super flavorful. I usually don't like pork belly, but this one was amazing and the fat of the pork belly did not bother me.  The meat was very tender and the portion of meat was generous! It's definitely comparable to the one we tried from Ippudo's.
Momofuku ramen
with pork strap, pork shoulder, poached egg
I was pretty disappointed.  The flavor of the broth was very bland and the meat was flavorless.  The egg looked really pretty though... It just didn't do it for me. I wish we had gone back to Ippudo instead.
Roasted foie gras
with almond, pear, smoked tea
We saw it on the menu and just wanted to have it for lunch. I know it's odd, but we just wanted to try it.  I usually don't order such a rich entree for my first meal, but since Foie Gras will be illegal in California starting 2012, we might as well enjoy it while we still can.  I really liked the chopped almonds with it.  If you like foie gras you can't go wrong with this, maybe not for lunch though.

Chicken and Rice Cart

Down the corner from Hiro! on 371 W 16th St

Occasion: Post dancing and drinking @ Hiro, I was hungry so we went to this chicken and rice cart down the block from Hiro to get some chicken and rice. **It was during the time of the Baseball playoffs and I think some guy was capping on the giants so my friend made me say to him "I'm going to Lincecum all over your face" LOL, and then those guys stopped bothering us and left. Late night 10.15.10/Early AM 10.16.10

Chicken and Rice
Definitely does not compare to my chicken and rice experience during my 2009 trip to New York! Just doesn't compare! This one was decent after clubbing, but it was very salty.  It didn't stop me from eating it though because I was so hungry.  I guess it will do if you're somewhat intoxicated and nothing better or closer to eat.
