Halibut crudo with yellow peach, sea beans, purslane and mint
I'm a fish lover. cooked or raw and I'm on it. Well not always, but most of the time. When I saw that it was a halibut crudo, I was all over it, hoping Wayne would want it too because Ella does not like raw fish. Neither does she like beans. I really thought there was no chance I was going to get to try this that night, but fortunately Wayne wanted to try it too. yay! I thought the combination of the halibut and the peach were amazing!! Though the portions were tiny, it was well worth it to give it a try.
Margherita Pizza
with tomato, basil, fio di latte and extra virgin olive oil
Over the years, I've learned to like vegetarian pizza more than meaty pizzas. Margherita pizzas are my absolute favorites of them all. Delicious mozzarella, tomato and basil, all simple and fresh, but so good! Their pizzas are not too big and the dough is perfect-not too thick, but not too thin. The pizza wasn't too heavy either. It was amazing.
Chitarra pasta
with saffron braised squid, rock cod, bay shrimp, green olives and summer peppers
Honestly, I don't remember much of this dish. But I do remember that everything we had was pretty good. I guess I only remember what stood out to me. This must not have been the best nor the worse...because if it's bad I'll definitely remember it.
Mixed roast of vitellone with bloomdate spinach, confit potato, cucumber, radish and tomato vinaigrette
Basically veal prepared in three different ways. I forget what it was exactly, but there was one that was REALLLY tender and tasty. It was interesting because they were all the same meat, just prepared differently. When prepared differently, the texture, taste and experience is so different. I didn't LOVE it, but I did enjoy it.
Roasted beets with arugula and parmigiano
This side dish had Wayne's name written all over it. I am not a beets person. That's one thing I really don't like! I tried some and it did not change my mind about how I felt about it. GAG! I just don't get how and why people like it.
Chocolate budino with espresso-caramel cream and sea salt
Their version of a chocolate souffle. The ice cream they use is from Humphrey Slocombe, which has a combination of very unique flavors. Sea salt and espresso caramel ice cream. Sounds odd, but tastes so good with the chocolate cake. Savory mixed with sweet gives a burst of joy on my taste buds.
Warm polenta cake with blueberries, corn ice cream and basil
I really really liked te polenta cake as it reminded me of cornbread, which I enjoy eating a lot. I didn't care too much for anything else on the plate, but corn ice cream-sounds unique again because it's from Humphrey Slocombe.
Roasted nectarine with poached blackberries and olive oil ice cream
The nectarine was delicious! It was soft, mushy and very sweet. It's amazing to me how you can turn such a fruit into such an admirable and elegantly fancy type of dessert. Beautifully prepared and pretty good!
