Sai Jai Thai

771 O'Farrell St
(between Hyde St & Larkin St)
San Francisco, CA 94109

Occasion: Belated bday dinner for Mike 5.3.10. I was so upset when I found out that I didn't bring my camera. These pics were taken on my camera phone; some of which are blurry.

Salty crab papaya salad
On the BIG EATS SF 2010: #27. Papaya salad with salty crab at Sai Jai Thai, so I had to try it. I've never been a fan of papaya and unfortunately, this dish didn't help with converting me into a papaya lover either. It was good when eaten with my fried rice. I thought the salty crab was pretty good though. It was kinda sweet and salty at the same time. The crab meat was very soft and tasted as if it was raw.

Stirfried string beans with beef
I thought it was pretty tasty, but the portion was not that big. It was good, but nothing about it stood out. I guess that's just what we wanted, simple foods.
Tom yum soup
Mike wanted soup, so we got it. I usually love tom yum soup, but this was the worst I've ever had. The taste just wasn't doing it for me. It was too sour and lacked in taste. I did not enjoy it at all. I just picked at the mushroom and the chicken. I wonder if asking for mild spice affected the flavor of the soup.
Pork Shoulder Fried Rice
It sucks that the picture is blurry! But this was soo delicious and so filling. Definitely the best dish we ordered that night. The sauce was amazing; it was a bit spicy with onions. The meat was tasty, tender and very addicting. Cheap, good and filling. So worth the money!
