Steps of Rome Trattoria

362 Columbus Ave
(between Grant Ave & Vallejo St)
San Francisco, CA 94133

Occasion: Friday night dinner date! I've been wanting to give this place a try. It's close and in the neighborhood, so we gave it a try.

STEPS CARPACCIO
Parmesan, cheese, & capers; thinly sliced raw beef
I always somehow get a little bit disappointed when I order beef carpaccio at an Italian Restaurant. Why? Because I always expect it to have a similar taste to the vietnamese kind, where its sweet, citrusy topped with lots of cilantro. The carpaccio here is not bad at all. I love how thinly the raw beef were sliced. The paramesan cheese sprinkled on top definitely made a difference. We asked for extra lemon juice to be squeezed on top. It was really good for Italian carpaccio.

BRUSCHETTA
Grilled bread with olive oil, garlic, tomato & basil

I love bruschetta and I heard the bruschetta here is really good. In my opinion, I just thought it was mediocre. I wish the bread had more of a balsamic vinaigrette sauce, which it did not. The tomato and basil tasted really fresh! It didn't meet my expectations. I've had better!

RIGATONI alla NORCINA
tube pasta with Italian sausage mushrooms in a light cream sauce

I am so glad I ordered this. Pictured here is only half the portion. They were nice enough to separate it in two different plates for us! This was SOOO good, it left me wanting more. I love the rigatoni pasta and the sauce was amazing. I'm glad it wasn't too creamy! I love mushrooms and there were a good amount of sausages. YUM!! I totally recommend getting this pasta dish.
