Baker Street Bistro

2953 Baker St
(between Greenwich St & Lombard St)
San Francisco, CA 94123

Occasion: Brunch with Ella .  We of course split everything two ways so that we could try both. 04.16.11

Oeufs Baker Street Bistro   Chef's favorite
Ratatouille, poached eggs, English Muffin, tomato sauce
I was definitely intrigued by the sounds of this dish and I wanted to try something different.  Never seen anything like this on the menu before, so I decided to give it a try.  I love tomato sauce based everything, so I was excited to see how'd this would turn out.  It was actually really really good. Healthier tasting than the hollandaise sauce.  Ella even complimented my choice of entree.  Even a picky eater like her enjoyed it. Should definitely give it a try if you don't mind tomato sauce.
Pain Perdu   A brunch favorite!
Two slices of cinnamon French Toast, fresh fruit,
strawberry coulis & crème fraîche
Very beautifully presented, but the bread was not fluffy.  Not that it wasn't good, I just hoped for it to be your normal fluffy texas french bread.
Oeufs Benedicte
Canadian Bacon, poached eggs, English Muffin, Hollandaise sauce
Ella was really happy with her dish because she loves egg's benedicts.  The muffins got soggy real fast, but otherwise, it wasn't too bad.

Napa, California

Occasion: Wine tasting and grubbing in Napa. 05.29.11

Tacos
One was Mahi Mahi, forgot what the second one was, but they were unbearably spicy for my liking.  There was just too much cabbage on there and it's not even a vegetable that I am that fond of.  It was decent with a lot of flavors, but not really my style.C

Lobster Salad
Delicious. I love seafood based salads.  It had chunks of grapefruit and avocado, which I really liked.  There's the bittersweet juicy grapefruit paired with the rich creamy avocado. I definitely enjoyed it more than I did the tacos.

Pica Pica Maize Kitchen

Yucca Fries with garlic
Perfect little appetizer for all of us to share. You can never go wrong with garlic flavored anything.

Maize'wich: sweet cornbread with pernil filling that consists of: pulled pork, sliced tomatoes, avocado and aoli on the side
Delicious!! First time ever having food like this and I loved it.  I loved the sweet corn bread, the taste and the texture.  Pulled pork was delicious and tender. Tomatoes and avocado made it even better. I can't wait to have it again.

Ritual Coffee Roasters

Oxbow Public Market
Napa, California

Occasion: Wine tasting and grubbing in Napa. 05.29.11

Cappucino
Needed some caffeine after about a 1.5 hour drive up to Napa. My first time ever having ritual's.  I thought it was pretty good, not too strong/ bitter and had a natural sweetness to it.  It reminds me of Blue bottle in San Francisco, but not as strong.

Fatted Calf

320 Fell St
San Francisco, CA 94102

Occasion: Had brunch early in the day, followed by some tv and food coma! When we woke up again, we were starving and decided to order sandwiches from here. 05.28.11

Left: Prosciutto Sandwich
Right: Meatloaf Sandwich
Definitely a very heavy meal.  I know it's just a sandwich, but the amount of meat in the meatloaf was super filling.  Not the type of meatloaf I was expecting, you know..those ones they serve at diners or as cafeteria food. It was ground up meat smushed together.  My favorite part were there pickled onions.  It had a tart/ tangy and sweet flavor to it.

Chicharrones
Fried pork skin
So good. It reminds me of those shrimp chips that my parents used to buy for me as a kid, but this one is 10 times better because it melts in your mouth and is so much more flavorful.  I just had to grab a bag of these on my way out.
