My Father's Kitchen

1655 Divisadero Street
San Francisco, CA 94115

Occasion: Our go to place for lunch to take back to the office.  My co workers and I love coming here. Staff are very friendly, quick and I just love the flavors of it. Very homey, not too much MSG taste. Our vietnamese comfort food place.

Vietnamese Iced Coffee
So good! Perfect on a hot day!
Chicken noodle
I always order this. I think it's a number 5. haha. I don't add anything in it. I love ordering this on a cold day or when I'm feeling a bit under the weather.

Squeeze In

10060 Donner Pass Road
Truckee, CA 96161

Occasion: Sunday Brunch before another day of adventures=] 8.01.10

Omelettes
I don't remember the name of this omelette but it was something with just veggies. It had tomatoes, mushrooms, peppers, cheese. It was decent, but definitely overhyped. The names of the omelettes are very interesting, but I feel like you can get something better and homier from the city. Glad I could say that I've been there done that!
French Toast
I just couldn't resist. Thank goodness, everyone else had a little sweet tooth as well. The toast was super fluffy, but I was still missing the mascarpone from the day before.
Bloody Mary and Mimosa
No wonder I felt nautious afterwards. Sun + alcohol= no good.

Bar of America

10042 Donner Pass Road
Truckee, CA 96161

Occasion: Saturday brunch before parasailing and jetskiing in north tahoe. 7.31.10 We had originally wanted to go to squeeze in just a few restaurants down, but the wait was just too long. So we settled for this place, which wasn't too bad.

Tomato Soup
It was some kind of tomato soup. Very oily, as you should be able to see in the pic.  It was decent, but not the best I've had.  Good thing I got to share it with my friend.
Vanilla Custard French Toast with straberry compote and vanilla bean mascarpone
The toast was just mediocre but it was SOOOOO delciious with the mascarpone. I think it was the mascarpone that did it for me and the strawberries. I love mascarpone cheese, the sweetness, the flavor and the consistency slathered on the toast with a strawberry. Yummio delicous! Loved it!
Duck Confit Hash
House made duck confit, apple, potato, sweet onion, poached eggs, toast
Very good, but also very rich. I am so glad I shared this. Definitely not something I could finish on my own.
Croque Madame Sandwich
Capicola, gruyere Bechamel, Grilled truckee sourdough over easy egg and breakfast potatoes
Due to the different cheeses, there was a lot of flavor in this sandwich. I don't usually order breakfast sandwwiches, but I thought it wasn't too bad. Again, a bit on the heavy side.

My Tofu House

4627 Geary Boulevard
San Francisco, CA 94118

Occasion: Dinner before heading to Tahoe for a weekend trip! 7.30.10. Unfortunately, I didn't get to sit, eat and enjoy the food much. I had to leave for tahoe, so I ate a little bit and took a box to go!

Stonepot BiBimBop
This is seriously my favorite korean dish at any restaurant. This is my "safe" dish because I know I'll like it.  I've been a bit more brave these past years and have been more willing to try different dishes. It's safe to me because it's not spicy (unless you load it up with a lot of that spicy red sauce). It's also pretty healthy to me.  Not a lot of meat. I've never been a big fan of meat.  I can't go wrong with this dish.
Bulgolgi
Like I've mentioned, I'm not big on meat, but I did think it was good.  It's good with plain white rice. I personally think Kalbi is a bit tastier, but also fattier. You can't go wrong with this if you're a meat lover.
Tofu Soon Doo Bu
Yummy Tofu Soup! I love it here! Perfect to have on a cold winter day. Crack an egg in it and eat it with rice.  I love tofu, so you can't go wrong with it!  Their Tofu Kimchi soup is #9 on SF BIG EATS 2010. Though not exactly the same, its pretty similar just with kimchi in it. Since I don't like kimchi all that much I don' t like ordering it. I still mark it as though I've had it because it's basically the same.

Squat and Gobble

Occasion: Dinner for two with Jordan on a Saturday night! We got the special, where you can pick an 1 appetizer + 2 entrees+ 2 Wine drink of choice for $29.95. What a deal.

Sake Steamed Mussels
Spicy Red Coconut Curry Sauce, Garlic Foccacia Bread
I love mussels so I just had to get it.  The server totally sold it to us and said it was her favorite thing here!  The mussels did not taste too fresh, but the sauce was delicious, especially when you dip it with the bread. YUM!
Sesame Crusted Ahi Tuna Steak (Served Rare)
Wasabi Mashed Potatoes, Garlic Braised Brussels Sprouts, Sesame Soy Glaze
Seared ahi tuna!! How can you go wrong, espcially with their masehed potatoes. Servings are very generous! I barely finished half of this! YUMMAY!
Coriander Seared Ahi Tuna Salad (Served Rare)
Truffle Scented Fingerling Potatoes, Marinated Vegetables Lemongrass Tossed Organic Baby Greens, Wasabi Aioli
Almost like the entree above, except with different seasoning, salad and potatoes. Very good as well!
